HIGH SPEED TRAIN MAKING A BOAT TOUR IN PARIS
June 2007
High speed train making a boat tour in Paris
During the month of June 2007, just after the high speed train broke the speed world record of a train on rails, GIANT MARINE provided a flat pontoon together with skilled personnel and a ballasting system to transport the train through Paris historical center on the Seine river. The pontoon was ballasted accurately taking in consideration the water level in the river in order to enable the transport to pass under the many nice bridges of the city. The picture shows the pontoon passsing alongside the « conciergerie » (the jail of Paris at the time) where the king Louis the 16th and the queen Marie-Antoinette have spent some time.
